Greendale Elementary "Cleans Up"
Mandy Fletcher, from the Holston River Soil and Water Conservation District, recently visited Greendale Elementary School. During the visit Mrs. Fletcher reviewed Virginia’s water resources and discussed ways we can conserve water and keep it clean. The presentation was very hands on. Students helped Mrs. Fletcher build a model of a rural community. Then the students were asked to demonstrate ways people can pollute the land and water in a community. After polluting the landscape with various mystery liquids and debris the students had to brainstorm ways to make the land and water cleaner. It was a great reminder that “We All Live Downstream” and what we do to our environment impacts the world around us.
