Students Build Friendship Towers

Students stand behind cards used to build tower

Third graders at Greendale Elementary started the year off right!  As a part of learning procedures and routines during the first few days of school, students discussed what makes a good friend.  They read the book Chrysanthemum by Kevin Henkes, the story of a young mouse who went to school full of excitement only to be met with jokes about her name.  Third graders brainstormed ways that they could make friends feel welcome and safe in their classroom.  Students then wrote their ideas on cards that they used to build a friendship tower.
