Boys and Girls Club of the Mountain Empire will be closed at Greendale Elementary this afternoon, 9/1/2026. AEP will be working to restore full power to the school this afternoon. Please call the school to make any necessary transportation changes.

Pre-K Color Days are here! For the next two weeks, wear your happy colors and surprise our Pre-K students!

Stop by anytime during this window to complete paperwork and meet your child's teacher. No appointment needed — come whenever works for your schedule. (Kindergarten families: your teacher has already scheduled an individual appointment time with you — please plan to attend at your scheduled time.) Please don't worry if you don't have all of your child's school supplies gathered by the first day — Virginia's Sales Tax Holiday runs August 7–9, so there's still time to shop tax-free over the weekend and get everything checked off the list.
Our therapy dog Maple will be here to help greet our Greendale family and get the year off to a soft-paws, strong-roars start!

If your child has medication in the clinic, it must be
picked up by a parent or guardian on or before the
last day of school, May 22, 2026. Medication
cannot be sent home in a student’s backpack. It is
highly recommended that emergency medication
be left at school through the end of May 22, 2026.
Any medication not picked up will be disposed of,
per county protocol. Medication orders expire at
the end of the school year. You can find
prescription and over-the counter forms on the
GES website under CLINIC.

Our 5th grade students celebrated Arbor Day in a meaningful way! They learned about the importance of trees, environmental stewardship, and how small actions can make a big impact on our planet.
To put their learning into action, students worked together to plant a tree right here on our campus—leaving a living legacy for future students to enjoy.
We are so proud of our young leaders for taking steps to care for the Earth and make Greendale even more beautiful!

We were so excited to welcome back former Greendale students—now proud soon to be graduates of Abingdon High School—who visited us in their caps and gowns. Seeing these seniors walk our halls again was a powerful reminder of how far they’ve come and the bright futures ahead of them.
Our current students loved cheering them on and giving words of encouragement. Moments like these inspire our young learners to dream big and work hard!
