We invite our community veterans to join us for our Veterans Day Program on November 12 at 6:00 p.m. in the Greendale Elementary School gymnasium. A program of music will be presented by our 4th and 5th graders and we will be joined by the Highlands Veterans Color Guard.
Kindergarten students at Greendale Elementary had lots of fun and used their math and science skills while investigating pumpkins. They measured the height, the height of the stem, the circumference, and the weight of pumpkins. They described their pumpkins and drew pictures of them. They counted the seed lines on their pumpkins. They learned the parts of pumpkins, the life cycle of pumpkins, and compared and contrasted pumpkins with apples. Finally we cut into the class pumpkin, explored the inside and counted the seeds. Each child took a bunch of seeds, made sets of ten, and counted by tens.
The vocabulary parade was a huge success. Students dressed up to represent their chosen vocabulary word. After the parade, the students got to trick-or-treat thanks to our PTO and community volunteers.
Mrs. Griffin's center based class joined Ms.Thomas' Kindergarten class for a lesson on inclusion! They read Room on the Broom and talked about how when we work together we can accomplish anything! Mrs. Griffin's class then showed Kindergarten how they paint with forks and they all made a broom!
Tomorrow is the date! Our annual vocabulary parade will begin at 9:00 AM on Friday, October 30--followed by trick-or-treating in the gym.
