Please help WCPS celebrate the annual PAWS Campaign. More information can be found at your school.
Our March PTO program will be held on Thursday, 3/14, at 6:00 p.m. Fourth and Fifth grade students will present a musical program. Come out and enjoy a great show!
This year's GES Talent Showcase will take place during Creative Arts Night on Thursday, April 11 at 6:00 p.m. We invite any student to share his or her talent (music, dance, theatre, etc.). This is NOT a competition. It is a high quality showcase to "show off" the many talents we have here at Greendale Elementary. Participants must be able to prepare their own act /performance independently. In addition, all entrants will need to meet with Mrs. Gates prior to the showcase to have their act/performance reviewed to be sure the participant is well-prepared and ready for the showcase. Each participant must complete this form and submit it. Once received, Mrs. Gates will review the forms and meet with each participant to review his or her act. If you have any questions, you may email Mrs. Gates at [email protected]

Dear Families,
We are excited about our partnership with Ballad Health that provides our students and staff with the opportunity to have an Urgent Care visit without ever leaving school grounds. Through telehealth equipment provided by Ballad, students and staff can live stream with an Urgent Care physician or nurse practitioner to receive an evaluation, take a test, receive a diagnosis, and order a prescription.
In the coming weeks all schools will have this service available to them. We are already up and running at Greendale, Meadowview, Damascus, E.B. Stanley, Glade Spring, Holston, Wallace, Valley Institute, Patrick Henry, Abingdon Elementary and Watauga. As a matter of fact we had our first employee take advantage of the service last week. SRO Mike Reid had a visit at Damascus Middle School. Here is what he said about the experience. "I used the telehealth system last week. The process was simple and very user friendly. I didn't have to take time out of my day to run to urgent care or otherwise. After the visit, meds were called in to my pharmacy. Would definitely use this service in the future."
I know this will be a great service to our students, families and staff. When combined with the in-person clinic at John Battle, access to affordable healthcare has never been more available to our stakeholders.
If you have any questions, please contact me or Head Nurse Paula Nichols [email protected]
Thank you,

Three GES Fourth Graders were surprised by their teacher, Ms. Katie Mitchell, who portrayed Martha Washington and Mr. David Winship, who portrayed President George Washington as they entered the Martha Washington Inn to be recognized for their outstanding work on their George Washington Essays. Ms. Mitchell says she has enjoyed being able to welcome all the Washington County fourth grade essay winners to the Inn each year and to be able to portray such an important historical figure.
Next week, March 4-8, is National School Breakfast Week. Be sure to show your appreciation for all those to make it possible for the students of WCPS to have a delicious and nutritious breakfast daily! #WashingtonWay
